When you become sexually active
This is a good time for a first checkup and an honest talk about protection. During a birth control visit we compare pills and the injection, explain how the implant and IUD work and point you to where they can be placed. If you're worried about unprotected contact, sexually transmitted infection testing is available too.
If you think you might be pregnant
A clinic pregnancy test confirms what a drugstore test showed, or settles it when the home result was unclear. With a positive result we walk you through next steps and, if needed, the medical team can order an ultrasound.
Between pregnancies or when your family is complete
Many women switch methods after having a baby. If your arm implant has reached its time limit or is bothering you, we do subdermal implant removal right here, under local anesthesia.
Routine checkups at any age
Pap smears and vaginal cultures are the core of preventive care. How often you need a Pap test depends on your age and past results; the medical team will tell you when your next one is due.
Signs to come in soon
Don't ignore foul-smelling discharge, itching that won't go away, burning, bleeding outside your period or pain in your lower belly. These problems are common and usually treatable, but they're worth checking instead of putting up with them.
