Alcohol & Drug Testing

Does your new job require a drug test before you start, or does your company do random testing and today is your day? At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud La Porte we perform urine drug tests and alcohol tests with no appointment, with fast results and documentation ready for your employer, in Spanish or English, 7 days a week.

Types of tests

• 5-panel drug test: marijuana (THC), cocaine, amphetamines and methamphetamines, opiates and PCP; the basic panel most employers request
• 10-panel drug test: adds benzodiazepines, barbiturates, methadone, propoxyphene and other synthetic opioids; common at plants, the port, transportation and construction
• Alcohol test: breath or urine (ethyl glucuronide, which detects use within the last 3 days)
• Rapid test: preliminary result at the clinic in 10 to 15 minutes
• Lab confirmation: when the rapid test is positive or your employer requires certified confirmation, the sample is sent to the lab and the result takes 2 to 4 days

How the process works

1. You present a photo ID and your employer's form, if there is one
2. You leave your belongings outside the restroom and wash your hands
3. You collect the urine sample in a restroom prepared for testing; we check temperature and appearance to confirm it is valid
4. We seal the container with your signature and complete the chain of custody when applicable
5. We give you the rapid test result and documentation, or notify you when the confirmation arrives

The whole visit takes 20 to 30 minutes. Come well hydrated, but do not overdo it: urine that is too diluted can invalidate the sample and force a repeat.

If your job also requires a medical check, we do the pre-employment physical during the same visit so you can turn everything in together.

Medications and false positives

Some prescription medications, such as opioid pain relievers, anti-anxiety drugs or certain decongestants, can cause a positive result. Bring your prescriptions or medication list: documentation prevents misunderstandings with your employer. Lab confirmation tests distinguish between a prescribed medication and drug use.

Confidentiality

The result is given only to you or to whomever you authorize in writing, such as your employer. We do not share it with anyone else.
